The Patronat de Turisme Costa Brava Girona receives the SITC's medal of honour on the occasion of the Centenary

• The Patronat de Turisme Costa Brava Girona receives the medal of honour from the SITC on the occasion of the Centenary of the Costa Brava, presented by the Catalan Minister for Innovation, Universities and Enterprise, Josep Huguet, and by Ramon Bagó, President of the Show.

• The Patronat de Turisme Costa Brava Girona is taking part in the SITC (International Tourism Show of Catalonia) from 16th to 19th April with a stand of 280 m2 housing 20 organisations and companies from Girona who are presenting the tourism services and products of the counties of Girona. This year, on the occasion of the Centenary of the Costa Brava, the SITC has a 55 m2 space devoted exclusively to the Costa Brava.

• A series of presentations will take place on the first three days of the fair in which new features of the Girona tourism offer will be publicised.

Today, Thursday 16th April, at the Costa Brava Pirineu de Girona stand, the Catalan Minister for Innovation, Universities and Enterprise, Josep Huguet, and Ramon Bagó, President of the Show, have presented Enric Vilert, President of the Patronat de Turisme Costa Brava Girona, with the SITC's medal of honour on the occasion of the Centenary of the Costa Brava.
The medal presentation ceremony was attended by dignitaries, professionals from the tourism sector and from other areas, along with the press. Following the presentation ceremony, Enric Vilert, President of the Patronat, stated: pending


The Costa Brava Pirineu de Girona space is open from today 16th April until Sunday 19th April and will provide information and promotional material on the tourism offer of the area, as well as products such as culture, health and beauty, golf, greenways, trekking, nautical tourism, gastronomy, skiing, etc. There will also be specific documentation available for tourism sector professionals who wish to receive more specific information on services and companies from the counties of Girona with which to make contact and sell products.

This Costa Brava and Pirineu de Girona stand is located in pavilion 2 of the trade fair site (F-605) and occupies a surface area of 280 m2, housing 20 Girona-based organisations and companies who have counters displaying their products, offers and services.
Meanwhile, there is an additional 55 m2 space, provided by the SITC organisation, which is fully devoted to the Centenary of the Costa Brava and which has been designed as a relaxation area where tasting sessions of products from the area will also take place.

The Patronat de Turisme has scheduled several presentations for 16th, 17th and 18th April, aimed at professionals from the tourism sector. These presentations will be given by exhibitors from Girona to publicise the new features of Girona's tourism offer.

As regards the schedule of presentations, several will take place on the first day of the fair, including the Centenary of the Costa Brava and the showing of the promotional video, an evaluation of the 2008-2009 skiing season in Girona's resorts and sports competitions, a presentation of the new Tot Garrotxa guide, peasant cuisine from the Vall d'en Bas, and an active catalogue of products from the Gironès area. A presentation will take place on Friday 17th of the mediaeval route of Sant Joan de les Fonts and the new sections of Girona's greenways will be unveiled. Finally, on Saturday 18th April, the County Council of Baix Empordà will present the Obert per obres guided visit around the works of Sant Miquel de Cruïlles Church.
Meanwhile, in order to familiarise fair visitors with the foods, beverages and craft products of the area, a series of activities have been scheduled in the hall aimed at capturing the interest of attendees, who have the chance to taste local produce from the counties of Girona and see an exhibition of craft products from the area. The tasting sessions are organised by a range of institutions and organisations such as Cuina Volcànica or La Selva, la comarca de l'aigua (“the water county”), and the county councils of Alt Empordà and Baix Empordà.
